Sudden Transportation

The most memorable time this ever happened to me was at Rickers wake. Just all at once singing with James I was transported sort of sideways. To the left. A sudden surreal transportation in time and memory. It is like the old saying about the "New York Apartment". Like how some people live in California as if they just stepped around the corner from their New York apartment even if they have lived here twenty years. Even if they cannot step back into that apartment for reals. In this case it is a sort of bee buzz and vitality that comes leaping up out of the experience of a certain sort of time or place. It fascinated me in great part because I get a lot of artistic juice from it. Sometimes it seems as if we are jumping backwards or forwards in time so sideways seems better...the overall sensation of sound and sight and smell can often be the gateway...its just exciting when it happens. One time it happened to me in Garberville just smelling the smell of meat grilling and chamomile growing in the cracks of the sidewalk and the sun. Had any sense transportation experiences that relate to your time at faire? Any good tips on places, art, movies or songs and events that bring up that old vital rush? (besides the teahouse of course...)
